Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens Trailer, The Dark Side and The Light

Yep, this is a thing, and it just happened. The teaser trailer for Disney’s new Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens is out. So obviously, I’ve got to fangirl out and talk about it.

The best thing about this trailer? The voice over, and although it sounds like the amazing talent of Benedict Cumberbatch it may actually be Andy Serkis which is just fine with me! Because although Benedict Cumberbatch proved his intense voice over capabilities in The Hobbit, Andy Serkis has an even better roster with his work as Gollum in The Lord of The Rings and Caesar in the Rise and Dawn of The Planet of The Apes franchise (plus some secretive work in The Avengers Age of Ultron).

The premise for this film? It begins 30 years after The Return of The Jedi finished, and it finds John Boyega as a Stormtrooper who is shot down over Tattooine. There he encounters Daisy Ridley’s character, who shows him the difference between the dark side and the good side. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but does it look like there’s a lighsaber attached to the side of that speeder?

Now here’s some exciting news that I found out about the plot, apparently after the events of Episode VI, Luke has disappeared, so this film sees Han and Chewy go out to find him. Why is Luke hiding you ask? Because of the Inquisitors, who were first introduced in the Star Wars Rebels cartoon series (which you should totally watch!). The Inquisitors are hunting down any Jedi masters or Jedi-in-training, and I think it’s safe to assume that they are somehow related to the Sith.

Speaking of the Sith, can we talk about that new lightsaber design for the dark side? Although it will never lead up to Darth Maul’s lightsaber from Episode 1, it’s still pretty awesome, and I want it.

What are you hoping to see in the next trailer?
