So I may be a little behind, but I’ve finally caught up on the finale episodes for all of my TV shows (applause emoji). And since The Flash is one of my favourite new shows, I’ve got to dive into all the Easter eggs that the finale #blessed us with.
Right off the bat, this show (and Arrow) seems to be gearing up for the new spin-off series Legends of Tomorrow, which will star Firestorm, The Atom, White Canary (apparently she’s alive…again), Hawkgirl (HELL YEA!!!), Heat Wave, and Captain Cold. All under the command of Rip Hunter, a time traveler from the future.
My first issue with the Flash finale was the time travel misshapes, however, I’m holding on in hopes that things will all be fixed in season 2. For example (and SPOILER ALERT for those that haven’t watched the finale) since Eddie killed himself, thus erasing Eobard Thawne from the timeline, wouldn’t that mean everything he did never happened? Making the entire first season irrelevant? Or have we walked into another alternate reality with the opening of the portal in the sky?
If that’s the case, then does this mean that we’ll see alternate versions of other characters in season 3? Including those that have died (I’m looking at you Eddie). We already know that Tom Cavanagh (aka Dr. Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne) is set to come back for season 2.
Easter Egg #1: Caitlin Snow as Killer Frost
JUST NO. Killer Frost is one of my all time favourite villains, and Caitlin is just…annoying. There’s no two ways about it. Something incredibly epic needs to happen to turn her from being useless to being a cold, psychotic badass. I’m thinking the death of Firestorm maybe? That would explain why Robbie Amell’s not in Legends of Tomorrow but his counterpart Victor Garber is.
Easter Egg #2: Green Lantern Cross Over?
The Flash has been dropping hints about Ferris Air for a while now, and with the mention that one of their test pilots has gone missing, I can’t help but feel like they’re trying to tell me something about Hal Jordan. It just makes sense to introduce the Flash’s bff from the Justice League, no?
Easter Egg #3: Cisco Becoming Vibe
Cisco is already my all time favourite character from this series, so having him become Vibe is just the best thing EVER. Vibe has sonic powers which allow him to create shock waves that are powerful enough to disrupt the speed force (aka Flash’s ability to travel through time).
Easter Egg #4: Hawkgirl’s In The House
It’s not much, but just seeing Hawkgirl is enough for me, as she is one of my favourite DC characters. I’m interested to see where they will go with her character. Here’s hoping they take the reincarnation route of her being forced to live endless lives only to fall in love with the same person over and over again. However, I may be down to see them introduce the alien aspect of her home world Thanagar.
Easter Egg #5: The Original Flash Helmet
When Wells sees the helmet come through you can literally see the fear on his face. And why is that you ask? Because that helmet belongs to the one and only Jay Garrick, the original man to hold the title of ‘The Flash’. Does this mean we’ll see him in the show? Is it bad that a small part of me wants to see John Wesley Shipp play that character? As a homage to the good ol’ days when he played the speedster in the 90s. I mean come one, he’s already on the show as Barry’s father!
Other fun Easter eggs to point out: See a glimpse of Barry in handcuffs, fun scenes in anticipation for the Legends of Tomorrow, and possible other speedsters all up in this show! But most importantly: WHAT DOES THE BLACK HOLE DO NEXT SEASON?!!!
