Award season was once again upon us! And this year the BET Awards celebrated its 15th anniversary on Saturday with mashups, throwbacks, and surprise appearances to the good ol’ days (here’s looking at you Mrs. Jackson!).
My personal favourite? Old school Puff Daddy, Mase, 112, and Lil’ Kim (our prayers have been answered!), everything was going so well until Diddy took a little tumble on the stage, but he bounced back perfectly. Such a professional.
Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross from the hit comedy, Black-ish, did a wonderful job hosting. Anderson was quick with his wit, especially when he accepted Sam Smith’s award for Best New Artist by stating “Sam Smith isn’t here tonight because he’s white, and he didn’t think he would win at the BET Awards so we showed him that we love him too!” LOL, we see what you did there Anthony!
My two all time faves, The Weekend and Alicia Keys, took to the stage and it was pure genius. The Weekend started off performing his song The Hills (which I constantly listen on repeat), then Keys joined him to perform his song Earned It from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack. Swoon!
Of course, the fashion was on point. These 9 beauties not only owned the stage, but the red carpet as well. Check out my picks below, who’s your number 1?
