Terminator: Dark Fate Trailer Review

We all knew this day was coming, and now that it’s here, I feel very ‘meh’ about it.

Terminator: Dark Fate is a film that’s rewriting the Terminator franchise. Every film after the second no longer exists. Only one and two are canon.

Terminator is now Noob Saibot. No, seriously. This model can create a copy of himself for people to fight while his other version just chills. I won’t lie, it’s kind of cool, but I don’t think it’ll be enough to save this franchise.

What struck me from this trailer, is that it seems to be taking bits and pieces from other films and putting it all together into this one. For example, do you remember a little film called Terminator Salvation? It was back when studios thought Christian Bale would be their savour and that Sam Worthington was going to be the next big thing. Worthington played a human that becomes part machine. He’s programmed to kill John Connor but ends up saving him. We go through most of the film thinking he’s just a regular Joe before finding out he’s not a man at all…dun dun duuuuuuun.¬†Well, this film is bringing that back, as we have another cyborg-human machine situation. It didn’t work in Salvation, will it work in this? Probably not.

Another thing they’re bringing back? Old Arnold, like in Terminator Genisys. And what’s he been up to? Who knows, maybe guarding John Connor, who’s nowhere to be seen in this trailer by the way. Or maybe he’s living in recluse because John’s dead and the Terminator’s sad. To be honest, that’s most likely the case. John is dead and now we have this new character they’re all going to all team up together and protect. She’s either the new savour or somehow related to it. Either way, that’s not really important, what’s important is how is the Terminator even alive?¬†Didn’t he melt himself in T2?

It seems like, Judgement Day was simply delayed, that it’s inevitable…this was also done in Terminator 3. I’m just saying guys! They’re taking all the things they liked from previous films and shoehorning it into this one.
